We collect only your approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) to look up the forecast. It is not linked to you. There is no account, no tracking, no analytics and no advertising.

Who is responsible

The controller for Pollen Radar is CHANGE-ME legal name, CHANGE-ME postal address. Contact: support@usulapps.com.

Location and forecasts

When you use your location or pick a city, the app rounds the coordinates to two decimals (about 1 km) and sends them to our server. The server forwards the rounded coordinates to Open-Meteo, which provides the forecast from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service. Open-Meteo receives no identifier and not your IP address. The server keeps the forecast in memory for up to one hour per area of about 10 km so that nearby requests can share it. Coordinates are not written to disk or logs. In Germany the app also shows the official index of the Deutscher Wetterdienst (CC BY 4.0); the server downloads the whole index, so the Deutscher Wetterdienst receives no data about you.

We use this data to provide the forecast you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

City search

When you search for a city or save a place, the text you type or the place's coordinates go to Apple's geocoding service to find the place and its name. Apple's privacy policy applies to that request; we receive nothing from it.

IP addresses

Like any server, ours sees the IP address of each request. It keeps the address in memory for up to one minute to limit how many requests one client can make, and does not store, log or share it. This protects the service from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Hosting

The server runs at CHANGE-ME hosting provider in CHANGE-ME country. The provider processes data only on our behalf.

Data on your device

Your symptom diary, including medication you log, chosen pollen types, saved places and alert settings stay on your device and your Apple Watch. Morning and evening alerts are created on the device from the last downloaded forecast. The diary report is made on your device and only goes where you choose to share it. Delete the app to remove all of this data. Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see payment details.

Retention

Forecasts are kept for up to one hour and IP addresses for up to one minute, in memory only. We keep no other data about you.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. Because we store nothing linked to you, there is usually nothing we can find, but you can always contact us. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example where you live.

Children

Pollen Radar collects nothing from children beyond what is described here, and nothing that identifies them.

Changes

We will post any change on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
